Week 6: Day 3

HIIT 15 today and wow!!!! I haven't done it since the beginning and it is insane. Lots of jumping and craziness!!! It is super intense and it is over so quickly that it is awesome. But oh man. It works ya.... Works ya hard!!!
In other news my foot is in ridiculous amounts of pain tonight because a few nights ago I was attacked by a wasp on the bottom of my foot. It wasn't super bad the first night, and it was bearable the second night but tonight it is really painful and itchy. Grrrrrrrrr.... Stupid wasps!!!! So that is all. I am going to bed now.
Sleep well imaginary readers.

Week 6: Day 2

W00t w00t!!!! Tonight was the first night of the Three Hills TurboFIRE class also known as "Hott Mom 2013". It is a great class that is in the evening and is geared for moms. HOWEVER.... That does not mean that you can't come if you don't have kids. It is a ladies only class and it runs Monday-Friday in the PCA elementary chapel at 8:00 pm. If you can't make it every night that is ok, but it is encouraged to go as often as you can.
Tonight we rocked FIRE 30 and it was amazing! Ok, it was a little slow to make the newbies a little more comfortable, but I still pushed hard and I gave it all I could. Yay!!! I was a drippin'!!!!! So regardless of whether you are a beginner or if you are well versed it is a great class that is totally worth your time. The more you work the more you'll get results and the more you work the better you feel. It is YOUR workout and you can do what is best for YOU!!!!! So, come try it out, and if you have any questions then please contact me via Facebook.
Goodnight all!!!!!

Week 6: Day 1

Well it has been quite a weekend. Yesterday went into Red Deer with the family because Sean was helping re-shingle a buddy's roof. So I hung out with Karin and Sean worked with Mark. I even got a chance to take some time to hit Costco without the girls. It was quick but productive.
Then later I did have to go to Canadian Tire right close to their house and so I walked. That's right. In downtown Red Deer where the sidewalks either SUCK because they end randomly or are non existent I took both my girls in the double stroller over to Canadian Tire to get an air mattress. But I pushed hard and I got a little workout in so that felt good.
Today we got to sleep late and enjoy a freshly cleaned house. Yay!!! Grandma and grandpa Whitehead were back in town so I made a delicious chilli with home made corn bread. Mmmmmm. It was yummy. And we also set up our tent to "go camping" tonight. However.... Jenni disobeyed and we all had to come in the house as her punishment. :( Oh well. Here's our sweet set up though.

It is a bit deceiving on the outside because we have a twin mattress, a queen mattress and a playpen in there and still some wiggle room. So that is encouraging yay for going camping!!!!

And now.... For the report on the workout....

We did FIRE 60!!!!!!!!!!!! It was awesome. Sweat dripping, hair whipping, air punching-ly good. Yay!!!!!!!! It was awesome to finally conquer it. And again with the realization that my endurance is getting way better first time ever doing FIRE 60 and I was able to stay pumped up for the whole thing. No stopping and getting frustrated.... No jumping around randomly because you can't get the steps.... It was just.... Well.... AWESOME!!!!!

So, that being said, class starts this week and I am thrilled and waiting to KILL it!!!!!

Week 5: Day 6

Ok, so today we did CORE 20 and it was good. And that was all. We could have done more and we both know it, but we were both exhausted after a long week and we decided to push hard for the 20 minutes and then have some time to just visit and have a cuppa tea. It was really nice actually and I may be able to get to sleep before 11:30 tonight. Wahoo!!

On a slightly different note I made a killer dinner tonight. It was a little questionable in the making process and the sauce was really strong on its own, but.... It ended up being really good. I made great  green vegetable pasta. Here's the recipe if you are interested. It is from the cookbook "simply in season"

1 cup of ricotta cheese or cottage cheese
1/2 cup of milk (omit if using cottage cheese)
1/3 cup grated fresh parmesan cheese.
1 garlic clove minced
2 tablespoons each of basil and parsley chopped. (2 tsp dried)
1/2 tsp salt.
Mix all together and let sit. Blend in blender for smoother texture.

12oz (1 1/2 cup) of pasta of your choice
Cook as directed. When 6 minutes left add in 2 cups of fresh chopped broccoli. When 3 minutes left add 2 cups of zucchini and 1 cup of green beans. With only 1 minute left add in 1 cup of peas and 1/2 cup of chopped green onions or chives. Drain and add the sauce and serve right away.

I tweaked the sauce a little to make the flavour a little more mild by putting half ricotta and half cottage cheese, a spoon of greek yogurt, and a splash of milk and some chicken stock. I also used dried herbs instead of fresh. I  used the vegetable tricoloured fusilli for a pasta and let me tell you, I was not disappointed. It was rather yummy. Sean even said it was a make again recipe. Mmmmmmmm. And it really was pretty. I think next time I am going to throw some other veg in there too to add a little more colour. Maybe some carrots or red peppers or something.

Tomorrow is my day of rest and I am thrilled. Goodnight all!!!

Week 5: Day 5

Oh my GOODNESS!!!!!!! Tonight we did HIIT 30 and I was scared to death about it, but it was AMAZING!!!!!!! 5 sets of 1 minute FIRE DRILLS. 2 drills per set but 3 on the last one. Oh man. We killed it. Adrionne and I. We were victorious. It was amazing.
AND.... To top it all off I made homemade from scratch butter chicken with homemade from scratch naan bread. AND I made a big batch of home made salsa. Mmmmmmmm. So, all in all a very busy day.

Week 5: Day 4

This week is just flying by. Today was a tired day, so I had a nap in the afternoon and that made a world of difference. Went to dinner at the in-laws and the off to Chari's for workout. We did FIRE 55EZ. And today it was EZier. I was really stoked. Sweat dripping down my nose and I didn't have to stop to catch my breath. This just confirms to me that my body is starting to get used to the working out and I am starting to build endurance. Yay. See, when I did the FIRE 30 and it was easy I thought it was just because we had done it so many times now. But I have only done the FIRE 55 EZ twice before and that was a while ago. So, I do believe that I am building endurance and that will be great for my class. Yay!!!!
So tomorrow we are back in the world of HIITs so good night all. I need my rest.

Week 5: Day 3

Ok. So I'll start with my workout recap.
Tonight we did SCULPT 30. It was killer. She worked on the triceps and the glutes all at the same time. Ooooh my arms feel like jelly. And then there was this bonus video that was the Chlean Extreme teaser and I did NOT like it at all. TurboFIRE all the way baby. So it was a short workout but it was good and fun.

Now for the epic part. I went grocery shopping. Now, I had $450 for food for this first two weeks of the month. I went grocery shopping twice today. The first time was with the girls and so I got stuff for dinner, stuff for Sean's lunches, baby snacks, etc.... It was all stuff that I normally have to buy but I didn't specifically write them down on my list. I spent $227.90. Then I went a second time by myself and I got all the remaining items on the list. I went through all the recipes that I am trying and made a list of all the things that I would be needing. There are still things that I need to find. But also, 70% of my cart was produce, 20% was canned goods, and 10% was spices that I needed but won't have to buy again for a long time. On that trip I spent $157.70. So I have $50 left for random things like milk, eggs, bread... That kind of stuff for the next two weeks. (I spent $10 on my medication and Sean took all my change for coffee money). It is pretty late right now to tell you what all is on my list of recipes, but it is basically awesome. Chicken cacciatore, ratatouille, great green vegetable pasta, taco soup with corn bread from scratch, butter chicken and naan from scratch. Corn chowder and foccicia (sp?) from scratch. I am pretty stoked. And some of my recipes are not going to work out or be yummy for my family, but whatever.... I am trying something new and I am being healthy about it. Yay!!!!!!

Ok, so that wasn't so epic.

Week 5: Day 2

Ok, first of all I can't believe it is already week 5 and that my class is going to start next week. Also, it couldn't have come at a better time because Adrionne is going on vacation and I will be out a workout buddy. 😒
But anyhoo.... I have already started noticing that I feel better when I don't have as much yuck in my body. Yay. So today instead of taking a nap or something I rearranged my living room. Now this is a big deal for me because it means that my living room was CLEANED. I moved the couches so I cleaned under the couches. I moved the tv unit so I cleaned behind the tv unit. It was just all around a good thing. After I was done I felt AWESOME because my one room in the house was clean. Yay!!

So, I went and did my workout and we did HIIT 20. It was good and I was working hard but it didn't seem as hard. It was weird. So our next HIIT will be 25 mins long and hopefully will work me harder. Yes, I am getting addicted to the sweat.

Also, tomorrow is going to be an EPIC post because I am making some serious changes in my meal planning. I have this cook book called "simply in season"

And it is a GREAT resource that I didn't even know that I had. It has some great recipes that use the produce that is in season at the time so it cuts down on cost too. I am really excited to try some of the recipes in here. It will be good. So my big "to do" tomorrow is to make my new month long meal plan and the corresponding grocery list. I am excited but a little nervous too.

Week 5: Day 1

Ok, so yesterday was my day off but I still took the girls in the stroller for a walk. It was quite nice. It was super windy though, and on the wind was blowing from the north, so when walking north up 6th it felt like I was pushing 4 strollers instead of one double stroller. Sheesh!! It was crazy hard work and I was sweating when I turned east. Phew!
But.... I had yet ANOTHER blocked duct and I knew something was wrong because I was feeling super yucky. The crazy part is that 4 weeks ago that is how I felt every day. Tired, achy, irritable.... It was just not pleasant. So I went into the ER to get checked out and see if the doc could do anything for said duct. Low and behold, who was on call but.... ANISH!!! I see him every day at his house and now I am seeing him at his work on the day that Adrionne and I DON'T work out. Crazy. Regardless there was nothing that could be done and the duct wasn't infected yet so I was told to keep doing what I have been doing and hope it gets better. Sucky!! Oh well. It did end up working itself out last night anyway so that made me feel even more stupid, but whatever.
So that brings us to today.... Went to church, did children's church so I missed the candidating pastor, but it was ok. I had a blast with the kiddos and Sherry and also found a past sermon in my box that I had ordered so I got to listen to that as Sean and I made our way to Didsbury to Sean's brother's house. When we got there we saw some of Sean's cousins and a new baby who is super cute.... Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that Sean's grandparents came up from Yakima. They are my mother in laws parents and we all love them very much.... So we had a lovely dinner with Ryan and Linds and their kiddos, Chris and Andrea and their little munchkin, Bradley (Andrea's brother) grandma and grandpa, and mom. Plus Sean, Jenni and Maria. It was a full house. But so much fun.
So I bet you are wondering if I did my workout. Well.... Let me tell you....
Tonight I did FIRE 30 with Adrionne and Anish and it was AMAZING!!!!!! I worked hard, and sweated like a really sweaty person, but my endurance was there. It was awesome. I managed to push hard through the whole workout and I even did proper air jacks instead of the low impact ones. I actually jumped right up in the air. It was hard, and I was out of breath, but I wasn't where I was even at the beginning of last week. I pushed hard and did my best and I made it through the WHOLE workout without having to stop and regroup. Also, when I did a left lead I didn't feel like "Screech" from "Saved by the Bell". Just sayin'

Week 4: Day 6

Today was my last day for this week. Tomorrow is a rest day so.... I got some bands from my coach and Adrionne and I did UPPER 20, and LOWER 20. Last time we did it we didn't have bands and let me tell you, it makes ALL the difference. But because I knew we were going to do the strength training I walked to and from Adrionne's house. It is not super far away but it is about 14 blocks away from my house and so I plugged in with my tunes and hoofed it over there.... And then when we were done I took the long way home so I added at least another 6 blocks. So all in all it was a decent workout day.
Also, I am realizing that this workout is becoming part of my daily life. My husband is very supportive of the program and I find myself looking forward to my workouts with Adrionne. I don't know if it is the workout or if it is spending time with my friends but I sure am loving this. It is good.
Now my homework for this weekend/week is to figure out my grocery list and make sure that it is healthy stuff that will help me not hurt me. I can do it. Looking up fresh recipes and going to make a meal plan and a grocery list. I can do this.

Thursday, July 25, 2013

Week 4: Day 5

So did HIIT 25 for the first time tonight and I still love HIIT 20 the best. I love, love, LOVE that work out. I think it is because it pushes me to my limit in a shorter amount of time and I am just DRIPPING (not dripping but DRIPPING) in sweat. I love it. If you ever want to try a killer workout that will push you HARD try TurboFIRE HIIT 20. That is my recommendation.
Regardless, we did HIIT 25 today and it was good. My husband just informed me that I stink like sticky, yucky, sweaty sweat so that is a good thing. I am working hard!!! YAY!!!!

Week 4: Day 4

Well, tonight killed me. I didn't kill it. I was late Getting to Adrionne's house tonight and so we did one that was a little shorter so that we wouldn't be working out until 11 pm. So Adrionne suggested we do the ABS 10 work out. It is only ten minutes, but it is ten solid minutes of HELL. It should be called AGONY 10 instead of ABS 10. It was so brutal. I am just glad that Adrionne's kids go to bed later and Anish wasn't home from the hospital yet because let me tell you I was a yellin!!! It was HORRIBLE!!!!!! But I did it and I know that it was good for me to do, but let me tell you... Killer!!!!
Also, Lissy took my "before pics" yesterday and I neglected to post them so I will do that today. I technically can't REALLY do the before pics until I buy TurboFIRE for myself and log into the website because then I will get a free shirt, but regardless, until I get there here are my next set of pictures.

I am hoping for much better results in my next 4 week weigh in.

Week 4: Day 3

Ok, so I am discouraged... But I am going to change what is discouraging me so it is not the end of the world.... Starting with my love of white bread. Yes, I'll admit it, I LOVE white bread... Even more than McDonald's. But once we are done the bread we have (no, we are not going to throw it out) I will change to whole wheat bread. Yuck. But whatever. It is healthier.... Or so they say.
I guess I am just not to a place where I am ready to change how I eat. I eat food because I like food. I don't view it as fuel for my body, I view it as yummy for my tummy. So.... I need to change what I eat and how I think about food. This is easier said than done.
I guess I should tell you why I am discouraged. I did my second weigh in today and I GAINED weight. Now granted, I lost 0.7lbs in body fat, but common.... I haven't even dropped a whole pound. Frustrating. And some things went up when I thought they would go down. And I am just feeling like I need to change more than just how much I move. And I can be under my calorie target but it won't matter if it is all gross nasty calories that don't do anything for your body. This is why I need to make some changes. Some more changes. It is just frustrating when you go from no exercise to exercise 6 times a week (and this is hard core cardio too) and there are almost no results. I'm just saying. But I did my workout tonight even though I felt like having a pity party under a box. Did FIRE 45EZ and I was DRIPPING. The lack of weight loss gave me some motivation.... I guess.
Well my brain is not functioning anymore good night.

Week 4: Days 1&2

So it has been a little crazy lately. And I missed my workout on Friday and Saturday because we took our kids out on Friday and we had a date on Saturday and we didn't get home until REAL late. But I got back on the wagon without a hitch. Sunday was good. Went back to FIRE 30 and killed it. It was good.
But yesterday.... Oh yesterday. I was so grouchy yesterday. Just grrrrrrrrr. I'm not sure what it was all about, but after a great workout (HIIT 20) dripping in sweat my day started looking up. So a good sleep and today is better. Hopefully today continues to be better than yesterday.

Week 3: Day 5

Ok, so yesterday was a crazy BUSY day. We had so much fun though!!! We started out the day with the Red Deer centennial parade in downtown Red Deer. Jenni had her face painted while we waited.

After the parade Jenni wanted to go to McDonald's for lunch so we did. Let me tell you, after just a few days of eating healthier foods it made my stomach turn. But it was still good. However, because of that meal the day did turn into a cheat day. Oops. I'll explain in a minute. However, my McDonald's eating is different even if I do eat it. Before I would eat a Big Mac meal and 10 nuggets or a cheese burger and whatever Jenni had left over. Gross. Now, I just had the Big Mac and some fries and I was satisfied. I did want more because it is rather yummy, but I didn't HAVE more, so that is a big step for me. Yay for not over eating.
So then after lunch we went to the Westerner days midway. So much fun. Jenni went on lots of rides and most of them she did herself. She had a wonderful time. We also went on the Ferris wheel and she was just so pleased with herself.

After the rides we went to watch a great show with some animals in them and Jenni was so pleased. There was a camel and a zebra and two baboons. It was awesome. Here are the girls with grandma and papa waiting for the show to start.
Thanks for looking mom.

So then we ate at the midway, hence the cheat day. Even if you try to eat healthy carnival food it is still really not awesome for you. But again, instead of stuffing myself with garbage I just ate until I wasn't hungry and then went for there. I did, however, have some funnel cake. Mmmmmmmmm.

When we got back into town my in-laws dropped me at the church for worship team practice and then after that I went for my workout. We did the upper 20 lower 20 combo. It was a little silly though, because we don't have bands yet, so with the upper, when we could we were using heavy objects from around the house as weights. Like, Anish had a jug of milk and I had a bottle of lemon juice and a bottle of vinegar and Adrionne had her weird little bands when she could or used some canned beans. It was really rather amusing. But like I said yesterday, I pushed play and I was sweaty at the end so it was a success.

So that brings us to today. Today was a good day. I made some baby food for Maria. I made some yummy burrito filling for supper (very clean) and then I was slapped in the face with a migraine. :-( No fun!
So I finished up with the baby food, put the girls to bed and had a nice long nap myself. It was literally to the point where it was sleep or puke, so I chose sleep.
When I woke up I felt much better and I had a nice HOT shower. I had a few friends come by for a visit and that was lovely.
Sean really liked the yummy burritos and then Sean went on daddy duty so I could mow the lawn. Calories burnt right there. Whooooo!
After the girls went to bed I made my way back to Adrionne's and we did FIRE 45. It was fun, but it was the first time that we had done that one and I got really lost close to the end. So, instead of slowing down and trying to figure out what she was doing I just started jumping and waving my arms. I was still moving, I was still sweating and I kept my heart rate up. I will do the break down another time so I am more aware of what is going  on. But regardless, it was a good workout and I am feeling the strength training from yesterday in my chicken wings. Ooooooh. Sore.

So good night all. Tomorrow is my anniversary. Wahoo. 5 years with my amazing hubby. And Adrionne and I are going to do HIIT 20 again. W00t

Week 3: Day 3

Oh man, I am feeling AWESOME today. I don't know what it is because there is not much more to what I did today than what I do everyday but today I felt just amazing. Maybe it's the eating clean, maybe it's the daily exercise, maybe it's the 2 LARGE cups of coffee I drank today. There are lots of other factors too. Maybe it is because I started the day out with a good attitude, maybe it's because I got to spend some time with some amazing friends, maybe it's because Jenni napped today and I got my extended quiet time. Maybe it's because of the beautiful day and all the vitamin D I soaked up. Maybe it's because of the special time I had with someone I love. Maybe it is a mix of everything?? Who knows, but let me tell you if everyday could be like today I would be a freaking rockstar!!!
Tonight Adrionne and I did HIIT 20 for the  first time. Usually when we do something for the first time we are lost 85% of the time but tonight we rocked it. Both of us. And to top it all off Anish did the workout with us because he wanted to. He ASKED of he could join. Yay. Making an impact on our friends. High five!!!
So basically I am living on a high right now and just feel awesome, but tomorrow is going to be a busy day with my in-laws and my kiddos in Red Deer, so goodnight all!!!!!
And don't forget to PUSH PLAY!!!!

Week 3: Day 2

So today we had a clean meal. We had Greek chicken and baked root veggies and it was so yummy. And to add to the good we had home made Greek salad. Mmmmmm.

And then tonight I did my workout with Adrionne. We did the FIRE 45ez. It was good. We were both a little lost because we didn't do the break down, but we were sweating. And having a pretty good time.... If I do say so myself.
I also went online and found a schedule for TurboFIRE online and it seems pretty good. The only main difference is that our day of rest is Saturday instead of Wednesday. But they are pretty good. Here is a sample.

So here is to another workout down and a good nights sleep.

Sunday, July 14, 2013

Week 3: Day 1

Hey everyone (mostly TBO) I have not forgotten you. I just have been busy this weekend. BUT I have been diligent with my workouts.
Let me tell you all about it.
So Friday was my rest day mostly because my workout partner was out of town and I couldn't really convince my hubby to do the workout with me. But I do remember seeing that 5% of weight loss is sleep and I really was exhausted. So I went to bed early and got a little caught up on my sleep.
Saturday was good too. There was the parade in town and it was lots of fun. We even went to the kids carnival and I was really pleased with what was there.
As I pulled into my yard with my stroller I saw Lissy leaning into my door saying, "hello, anyone there?" And I just popped out and scared her a little. But working out with someone who has gone through the program before really makes you work. And I mean WORK!!! And it was also nice because she corrected my form a little and made the roundhouse kicks 1000x easier!!! So I sweated my keister off as Lissy and I did FIRE 30 in my yard. So great!! Gotta remember to keep my guard up.
So that brings us to tonight. This morning I asked my hubby to do me a favor. That favor was to support his wife in her new fitness goals and do the workout with me. He said... YES!!! So after a great day with the girls I went downstairs and did FIRE 30 with my amazing hubby. And he... Well he... Ok... He sucked.... Like hardcore bad. But he paid me a few compliments. He said he was proud of me for being able to keep up because he was lost 95% of the time. He also told me, (after I asked) that I did NOT look stupid doing my workout and I pretty much rocked it. Thanks to Lissy for helping me with my form and those roundhouses were aimed at "captain stupid head's" (my imaginary bad guy target) shins to start, but I didn't fall over and it didn't hurt my hip flexers so wahoo!!!!

Now in terms of parenthood it had been a while since I posted some pics in here of my girls (or me) so I thought I would start out the week and finish off the post with some of my favorites from the last little while. Enjoy!!!

I think that's enough for now. Goodnight!!!!

Week 2: Day 5

So yet again I have neglected to count calories, but again, I have had better habits then usual. Tonight for dinner we had hot dogs (which is not a great food to have in the first place but it was too hot to cook anything else) and I usually eat at least 3 if not more.... I know, right? Bad over eating habits.... But tonight I only had 2, and I had some fresh lettuce from the garden and I was satisfied. Wahoo. I am starting to curb this bad habit at last. Eat until I am satisfied not until I a full-up. It is a lot easier to function and if I eat smaller meals more often it is actually better for me, so yay for a step in the right direction.

On the mommy front I had a new experience. Jenni ran away today and I had to go looking for her, found her down the block and then I proceeded to send her to her room for the rest of the day/night. Oooooooooooh I was angry and scared. But I managed to stay calm and deal with it as best as I could. And she even understood why she was in trouble and was able to explain to me why she left the yard. Apparently she heard Sean come home when he didn't and was looking for his car. When she couldn't find it she decided to GO find it. Ah the joys of parenthood.

And the workout. Well today we did CORE 20 and STRETCH 40. Holy cow am I gonna be sore tomorrow. Whoooeee. It was killer intense and so good for my body. I was able to push myself even harder than what I thought possible. And let me tell you, I was a-grunting. But now it is time for sleeping. Tomorrow is my rest day and then I am off again. Adrionne is gone this weekend so I am working out with Lissy on Saturday and I am going to need some extra encouragement to get going on Sunday. I really hope Sean does it with me.... Yeah right.

Wednesday, July 10, 2013

Week 2: Day 4

So again I neglected to log my calories but it was a good day for eating. When I was craving some sugary things I would eat some fruit, and instead of juice I would drink water. So yay. Step in the right direction.

And, I did my workout with Adrionne. We did the HIIT 15 and I killed it. I was dripping with sweat by the end of the first drill and kept pushing. The first time I did the HIIT class it didn't seem that hard but I didn't know the choreography. This time I was more familiar with my moves and I worked it.

As for mommy-hood today was one for the books. Jenni accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and saviour. Yay. It was so awesome. I can't really describe it better than that. It is something I will remember for the rest of my life. PTL my princess is a child of God!!

Tuesday, July 9, 2013

Week 2: Day 3

Ok. So I didn't count calories today because I completely forgot, but I DID do my work out and let me tell you, I killed it!!!!
Today was actually a pretty good day in terms of mommy-hood. Much better than yesterday, THAT'S for sure. Maria was back on the boob full time and it was really good. She still gets distracted, but it was like my workout. You get to the point where you feel like you HAVE to quit and then you just keep going. So I am happy about that, but it is also nice to know that she will take a bottle without a fuss.

So, tonight the workout was FUN! Adrionne and I did the FIRE 55EZ and it was much better this time around. I knew more of the steps and I pushed myself HARD!!! I brought my knees up higher and I squatted down lower and I brought my arms out farther. It was awesome. I am letting Adrionne pick the workout for tomorrow and so we are going to kill it again tomorrow.

As for me, I am gonna hit the hay and catch some zzzzzzzzz ...

Week 2: Day 2

Ok, so as promised here is my post for today.
Today was a crazy day in terms of mommy hood. I took in too extra kids today that are pretty much the exact age of my two and it was a LOT of work. It didn't help that I also woke up on the WRONG side of the bed this morning and could not get out of my funk. I was just grumpy. 😡😥 Poor Jenni got the brunt of it, and there was a lot of apologizing to do.

Also on the mommy side of things.... I started wanting to wean Maria off the boob. With Jenni this was no big deal.... But with Maria it is different. Maybe it is because she is my last baby, but I am not ready to stop nursing her. I don't know what it is. I was feeding her a bottle today and I was thinking, "this isn't right...." So, I think that we will supplement for when my boobs hurt too much, and when we want to go on a date, but other than that we are just going to continue with the boob.

Now for my workout log....

So, after the other two kiddos went home I promptly fell asleep on the couch. Oh yeah, did I mention that I was exhausted beyond all recognition??? Yup. So, I was fully intending on cancelling my workout tonight, but my honey dearest made me go. So, I took the FIRE 30 workout disk because I was fully intending on just going to visit. Forget the workout, just have some girl time. But, alas, Adrionne was all ready to work out and was all, "well, we should do it because I already have my workout stuff on..." And so, thinking I was being sneaky said, "ok I'll do it, but Anish (Adrionne's husband) you have to do it too. So Anish went and got his workout stuff on and we did an awesome FIRE 30 work out and I am SOOOOOO glad that I did it. I love having a workout partner because it makes a world of difference in how hard I push myself and it makes me do things when I REALLY don't want to.

As for calories today.... Well ... I made cookies with the girls and they put me up almost to my max. I had a total of 2 calories left over today. But I am getting better. I am starting to measure what I am putting in so I know how much it counts for. Remember, I am starting with just my activity habits. I was doing nothing and now I am working out at least 5 times a week. Soon I will start changing how and what I eat. And more than anything, how MUCH I eat.

Well good night.

Week 2: Day 1

Ok. So last week only had 5 days, but I started again fresh so I thought that the week could start again on a Sunday.... You know.... Like a regular calendar.

So I did the FIRE 55EZ class and it was anything but EZ. And let me tell you it is a lot easier to work hard and finish the workout when you are working out with someone else. I was on the verge of quitting so many times and then I would just push through. It was hard but I knew I needed to do it.

So, tonight I am doing the same one with Adrionne and I am gonna kill it. :) I'll report back later.

Week 1: Day(s) 4&5

Ok. So today was a TOTAL fail. I completely let myself down and now I know not to do THAT again. Seriously. Sheesh!!!

Last night I went over to Adrionne's again and we did our first HIIT workout. We did HIIT 15 and it was killer. Granted, it wasn't so bad the first two sets because I wasn't really sure what I was doing. It was hi intensity, but I couldn't figure out the choreography and so it wasn't as INTENSE as it could/should have been. So I admitted this after the second set of FIRE-drills and Adrionne said, "just jump as high as you can and wave your arms around.... That is pretty much what she is doing." At first I laughed really hard and then I realized that she had a point. So that is what I did for the last set of 3 FIRE-drills. I did as much of the choreography as I could, but I mostly just jumped up and down as hard as I could and waved my arms around. Lol!

So then starts today. My COMPLETE FAIL!!!  I didn't have time to eat breakfast (mistake #1) so I just took my coffee with me and went to practice. Then when I got home I was starving, but I didn't have a lot of time to eat anything so I had a piece of left over pie. (Mistake #2). Then we went to a little birthday party for one of Jenni's friends ... Actually Adrionne's little boy Oscar. There I had a healthy-ish lunch I only had one burger and I felt content. BUT.... Then there was cake. So I had some cake. And then, because it was there and just calling my name I had ANOTHER piece of cake (mistake #3) shortly there after sugar cookies were being past around and I had more than one of those (mistake #4). And then there was just food on the counter that wasn't doing anything, so I started nibbling on the leftovers (mistake #5).

So, apparently I have learned something that I already knew about myself. If the food is just out there staring me in the face I just, out of habit, eat it. THIS IS A VERY BAD HABIT!!!!! One I need to break myself of. Today was a good example of that and it was very helpful. I knew that I shouldn't have had what I did, but I did anyway. I just ignored what my whole self was telling me and I just did it anyway. Again, I yell at myself, THIS IS BAAAAD!!!!

And, now, because of all the CRAP I put in my body I feel gross and I am exhausted so I am going to go to bed and I am going to do the FIRE 45ez tomorrow (maybe with my mother-in-law) and start the week fresh. I was doing really well the last few days and so I know how much better I feel when I do make healthy choices.

Today was a full out CHEAT day and it is NEVER going to happen again. Cheat meals maybe but never again a full cheat day. Good thing tomorrow is a new day.

Week 1; Day 3

Ok. Holy cow!!! I am so sore. My butt hurts, my thighs hurt, my back muscles hurt, my abs hurt!!! But it is all in a good way!! Yay! I know that my muscles are working hard and once I get past this tough first week then I will be golden! I am stoked!!! (Should I use more exclamation points???!?)

So tonight I did my workout with my friend Adrionne again. She didn't seem too excited about it, but once we got started it was awesome. We did the TurboFIRE 30 again and pushed ourselves harder than yesterday. It is so much fun. And doing it with a friend makes it even better. ❤❤

So, now with the food. Today was a good day for food. I am trying to make sure that I keep track of my intake because it is just as important, if not more than, the output or burn. Apparently, "abs start in the kitchen!"

Input: 2142 cal
Output: 1018 cal
Net: 1124 cal
Remaining (+/-): -76 cal

Wahoo!! I didn't go over today. Even with my little dessert treat after my delicious taco salad for dinner.

So that was my day. Adrionne and I are going to do HIIT 15 tomorrow to end the week with a bang!! Wish us luck!!!

Week 1; Day 2

So today I was going to have a sweet "COMBAT" workout with my coach(es) but it didn't end up working out. However, I didn't get the message in time and still went over there to work. It ended up being a great thing because I got the first TurboFIRE disk to work with, and I got all my measurements done. Lissy still needs to send them to me so I can post them, but let me tell you, it is NOT something I am proud of. The one measurement that I do remember is that my body fat % is over 36%. That is BAD. But I digress....
So, after being weighed and measured took the girls home again and I started making dinner. Seriously, who knew that pasta was so HIGH in calories??? Ok. I am sure that a lot of people knew that, but I sure didn't. So, I had two cups of pasta with sauce knowing that I still had to do my workout for the day, and knowing that I still had just over 600 calories left on my counter. So, being naive and not realizing how high pasta is in calories, I had ANOTHER cup of spaghetti because I was still hungry. I figured it would be just fine and dandy because I still had my workout to do. How wrong I was....
So back to the workout story....
So, knowing that my original plans got kiboshed I decided to make a different one. I invited my sweet friend over for the first TurboFIRE 30 work out. At 8:00 she came over and we worked our keisters off! I used some of the variations.... Like a sumo squat instead of a sumo burpee. Seriously??? Burpees are bad enough without the sumo squat added in there. Sheesh. I guess something I can aim for. ???? But it was TONS of fun and my coach was right. I told him that I needed something that would trick me into working. If it wasn't fun and I didn't like it I wouldn't keep doing it. He said that TurboFIRE was for me and he couldn't have been more right. Yay!!!!
So, as for calories here we have it.

Intake (food) - 2431
Output (burn) - 910 (breast feeding 650 and TurboFIRE 30 260)
Net - 1522
Total (+/-) - 322 too many.

This is going to change. As I told my coach and I think you as well, I am not changing too much right now. The biggest thing for me is to add a fitness routine to my day. Once I get that established, THEN I will make more changes.
Well, it is getting late. Good night, and tomorrow we will go again. W00t!!!!

Fitness

W1 D1: So, I got a trainer today, or rather, a coach, and he said, "no excuses... If it's too hot put on some fans and just go. So with my phone propped up on the high chair and standing under the ceiling fan (a little precarious during sun salutations) I did my first work out. I did not make it through the full 30 mins, but I did what I could for as long as I could. I was DRIPPING sweat and could totally feel the burn. Push-ups were from my knees, but I did something. As my lovely coach said, "1% is better than 0%", and, "you've got to start somewhere!" So I started and I worked and I am stoked for day 2. Let's go!!!!!

Reading

June 7 "reading" is the challenge. I skipped a few days because we had been so busy with playing outside and going to the pool. I think it is a good excuse. I would rather be playing with my kiddos than playing with my phone/camera anyway. But, regardless, here is today's photo.

It is from the 3rd book in the "Anne of Green Gables" series. I am loving reading it. So, I hope you enjoy.... And if you haven't read the series, you should totally get on that. I am going to read them to Jenni and Maria when they get older.

Family!!!

I love my family. I am just going to post some of my favourite pics today. Enjoy.

Love my family!!!!

Color

So today is June 3 and the photo a day challenge subject is "color" today. Here is my color.

These were a gift for me from a very good friend and a huge support in my life. I got them after my first show with my band Kick'n Around.

This is also a little bit of color for me while I do dishes, but I took this yesterday.

Enjoy the photos.

Photo a day challenge

So, I have seen the photo a day challenges all over the place but I haven't yet done one. Now with having a camera at my fingertips all the time I am going to give it a try for the month of June. (Minus the first day because I missed it)

There is a lot going on in the month of June for me so why not make it interesting and document it with my own personal flare and interpretation.

#1 big thing for me.... Today was our first paid gig as a band. Kick'n Around played at the Three Hills Cruise Weekend put on by the "street freaks". It was major blast and I am super sun burned on one side.

#2 big thing.... My baby girl is going to be 6 months old. Where did the first half of her first year go???

#3 big thing.... My Jenni is going to be 3 years old. WHAT????? Seriously. Time goes too quickly.

So, that being said, I am going to try to document as much as I can for this month and so I can look back on my beautiful girls at such a young age and remember fondly where we were at in June 2013.

In my hood

So I am in the beginning of a photo a day challenge for the month of June. Today was "in my hood" I took hood to mean neighbourhood. Here it is.

The thing is, I did also think of this kind of "hood"

So I do know that I am a big dork.

Well, here is to keeping on with my challenge.

Happy Mother's Day

Today was a wonderful day. It was my third Mother's Day, although my first one was with Jenni still inside me, and it was the best one by far.

It started with Sean and Jenni making me waffles for breakfast. It was so cute listening to the two of them make the batter together. It was not breakfast in bed (because Sean couldn't find the tray) so I got up and came to the table. It was a much better choice to sit at the table anyway because it did get a little messy.
Then Jenni came to me with something behind her back and said, "happy mudders day mommy" and handed me a beautiful watch. It was the perfect gift because my old one broke a few weeks back and it made me sad.

Then we walked to church and had a beautiful service.

After church we went over to Sean's parents' house to celebrate with them too. It was a pretty nice day so we did a lot of playing outside.

It is now a perfect ending to a perfect day.

A sense of accomplishment

So over the past few weeks I have been slowly working away at the yard.... You know.... Getting it all ready for summer!! It has been a long time coming, and there is so much more to be done, but it feels so good getting at least most of the yard done.

So these are two basic before pictures. The thing is, is there is still more yard that you can't see. Behind the shed (behind the play area) there is still another 10 feet of yard, not to mention across the yard. So there is basically a 10x60 area of yard that we don't even use or really see.

So after about 6 collective hours of work we have gotten the yard livable.

So there is about another 2 hours of work left cleaning out the flower beds and doing the boulevard, but it is not that big of a deal compared to what we have already done.

I'm just so happy that the yard is ready for Jenni and Maria to play in. We even let Jenni play in the sprinkler today too.

So here's to a big sense of accomplishment and the start of a great summer.
